How can I write a regular expression to parse a file name

I have the following file name structure:

Site.Group.Hostname.Type.txt and would like to build a regular expression to parse the file name in order to group these items as

Site
Group
Hostname
Type

I do not need the txt.

Thanks,
Pete

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Why don't you just split it based on '.'. You should get a result of string[]
