Nope!
can you run BPA and do a permission check?
ASKER
I have done this and it claims no problems.
I have to say though that this is what I am leaning to as the problem.
The server ran for a couple of weeks with no issues and then at 9.10 this morning fell over!
Is there any way to check permissions? I have gone through all the usual knowledge base articles that I can find.

Is the server OS and Exchange software properly licensed and activated? With SBS you should only have to active the SBS license; I don't think there's a separate activation for Exchange.
Also, is it possible that you've exceeded the default database size limit for Exchange? It's about 1TB, so this is HIGHLY unlikely, but I thought I'd better ask just in case.
Also, how about this one; it's an oldie but a goodie, but I'm not 100% sure if it applies to the later versions of Exchange:

I have not exceded 1tb as I have about 19gb but I will check default limits anyway.
I have already checked the oldie but goodie with no joy.
Cheers

Checked Database size limit and manually set to 100GB's no change.
when is the last time a full backup was successful on the databases of this server. If it has been a while, you could have excessive transaction logs that need to be truncated. Running a full backup should resolve that.
Also, make sure you have ample available space on the system drive. If it runs out of space, it will cause services to stop and not be able to restart.
