Starting MySQL database server: mysqld . . . . . . . . . . . . . . failed!

Hi there I have just tried to restart mysql server after seeing some funny messages on my sites regarding sql errors and I am now getting this when I execute

/etc/init.d/mysql restart

Error Message

Stopping MySQL database server: mysqld failed!
Starting MySQL database server: mysqld . . . . . . . . . . . . . .cat: /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid: No such file or directory

When I open the syslog it says this

Mar 30 22:54:55 ns211950 mysqld[15600]: 110330 22:54:55  InnoDB: Started; log sequence number 0 43685

Can anyone help?

You nay don't have a permition to start server try

sudo /etc/init.d/mysql restart
