I have a 40TB DAS. I have a SATA HDD dock and a bunch of 3.5" SATA drives. I want to backup files from the DAS to multiple SATA drives and put them in a safe for disaster recovery.
Primarily, I'm looking for an application that will catalog the contents of all the SATA drives and create a searchable index for files. For example, if I wanted to find abc123.txt, I could search and find that it's on SATA hard drive 2.
Secondarily, if this application could take 2TB chunks of files and figure out how to maximize storage space, that would be a bonus.
