How to start SQL service with Network Service account?

I have a test server and we have some software that requires the MSSQLSERVER service to  logon with Network Service. When I try to do this I get the following message: A new member could not be added to a local group because the member has the wrong account type. [0x8007056c]

How can I make make it start using Network Service?

Best regards,
Clyde.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

What do you want to achive? Do you want to change SQL Server service account to Network Service or add it as a login in SQL Server?
Above procdedure enables mixed authentication mode aswell as remote access - remote access = 1 is a default setting ;)

We’d all like to think our company’s data is well protected, but when you ask IT professionals they admit the data probably is not as safe as it could be.

if sql server is on domain controler then you can't specify the Network Service because it's not supported on domain controllers

I'm afraid also in Windows Server 2008 (regardless of it's role) you'll not be able to use Network Service builtin account as SQL Server service account.

Thanks for the effort everyone! Atleast I know it can't be configured so I can stop pulling my hair out of my head. ;-)
