I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Open sql manager and when you are prompted to log in, press ESC.

Now try an open a connection manually.

have you tried the Windows user or SA user you specified?

You should use SQL Server Management Studio Express - you'll find it under start->all programs->SQL Server 2008
In server name type your_machine_name\SQLEXPRESS, e.g. Win-srv-01\SQLEXPRESS

does the Windows Account you used to install SQL, not allow you to login to the SQL server?

Yes I cannot login at all. I have tried everything I know.

I login 08659543 on windows but this doesnt work on sql server management system.

I just installed the defaults and enabled TCP/IP with sql server.
