Word .doc will not open when we email it due to security

We email word documents to our warehouse which is off site and lately they have not been able to open them as the following message keeps appearing.

Can't create file, Letter1.doc. right click the folder you want to create the file in and then click properties on the shortcut menu to check the permissions for the folder.

Does anyone know why this is happening please?

I have made a mistake I am using word and outlook 2002 and this article does not relate to this version.  Also the computer I am sending the merged document to in the first place is not on the network.  Any Ideas?
