Can I pre-configure a router for a remote office?
I have 10 remote users scattered around the country. All need to connect to our corporate office via vpn. All these users have cable internet in their home offices (although their ISPs differ).
I was hoping to purchase the same model router for all users (Linksys E2000), configure the routers here, then ship them to the users and have them just plug-in with no install necessary.
Is this possible? If I configure a router at a local office that uses the same type of cable connection as a remote user, can I expect it to work out of the box at the user's end?

You can pre-configure the routers, then ship them off, we do it all the time for customers.
The only thing you'll need to know is each users ISP configuration information.
What sort of VPN are you planning on using IPSec or PPTP?
If you want to use ipsec you'll need to check whether the staff have static ips with their current ISP as well.

Without any configuration at the user home i think is gonna be difficult to do
But i think with a few tweeks like helping them connecting to wirless maybe open some firewall doors for gaming or other stuff ;) you should be able to do it.
I use that methoad at my own clients but i use a different equipment.
And with one or other tweek i m having a good feedback
