clearing cache out of the memory in the registry

I once had a download utility that cleared the cache or rather freed memory from the registry. Doe anyone know what that tool was?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

There are quite a few registry optimization tools, but there isn't really a "cache" for the registry. I would suggest trying this:

The Windows Registry is a database storing setting for everything about your machine.  I doubt the tool 'freed memory' like from your RAM.  More likely it was a registry cleaning tool that would identify obsolete entries and remove them, making the database more efficient.  I like CCleaner, cleans more than just the registry!
