InfoPath Forms: Accessing SharePoint List data via Web Services
Afternoon all,
Can anyone tell me if its possible to access SharePoint List information via a Web Service in InfoPath? I'd looking to make a customised Document Information Panel for some content types but have run into some issues, so I'd like to try a new hat. My eventual goal is to create a DIP that has filtered/cascading drop downs, which sends the selected values back to the SharePoint library but I need to know if I can access the information via web services first. if this IS possible, can anyone provide me with an example or a good link for building this up.
Many thanks

Ok, grand, that´s the easy part.
Can either of you suggest a manner in which an Office Document Information Panel can be configured for cascading dropdowns? I´m having considerable trouble getting this done.

Typically you have to use InfoPath's filter feature.
So that you can say 2nd dropdown where field = first selection.
www.infopathdev.com has quite a bit on cascading dropdowns and how to do them in a web form which I believe would be the most similar to what you are doing.

Hi Clay,
Thanks for this. I've run into an issue with the item ID when we use filter commands. Filters in these solutions tend to use display names, not ID, which provides a compatibility issue when sending data back to SharePoint.
