PowerPoint 2007 black box issue

I have embedded a movie in powerpoint, I can change the black box to a picture with the change picture option, but I want this movie selectable to be played more than once.  After playing, rather than returning to the picture, it returns to a black box.  How can I get it to return either to the picture or to the first frame.  No black screen shows when viewed in video editor,

You could try adding a picture on top of the video and in video options >> hide when not playing maybe. When it plays the video will move in front of the picture

I already have picture on top - when it rewinds you see the picture for a second as it moves to the black box screen - I want it to stop on the picture.
If I place a picture on top without using the replace picture option, the video does not play when clicked.
One addition thing - the screen has more than one selectable movie - each one needs to be selectable multiple times.
You should be able to change the triggers so it plays on a click of the picture and stops on a click of the video (I think!)
Has anyone actually found a solution through macro or otherwise to rewind back to the picture that Microsoft PowerPoint will allow the user to place on the 'movie clip'?  The suggested workarounds are cluncky and don't work well across windows versions.
