HI, I have a flash drive, it is probably physically damaged.  When connected to pc it does not get recognized.   Is there a way to get the data recovered. thanks

Click Start > Run and type diskmgmt.msc does the drive show up?

Try a couple of different pc's to make sure it isn't just a dead port, otherwise you are out of luck unless you want to spend a lot of money on a data recovery service.  They would likely have to remove the flash memory from the device and put it into another.
If the device is recognized in disk management he might be able to recover data and reformat.

Before you give up try:
Data Recovery Wizard Free Edition
http://www.easeus.com/datarecoverywizard/free-data-recovery-software.htm

It is free!
Also:
Wiping the USB contacts with a dry cottonstick (ear cleaner) may help the "weak contacts"
>>   If I push it around it gets recognized.  <<  i have one like that..(and it still works ok)
crack it open and resolder the  4 contact points with a grounded soldering iron!
