Exchange 2003 IMAP/POP3 virtual server's do not start automatically.

typically when I restart my 2003 Exchange Server, all the services start, but the exchange IMAP/POP3 virtual server's do not start automatically.  They have a little red X showing.
I keep having to go into Exchange System Manager and start the IMAP4 and POP3 VS manually, right click/start. Does anyone know whats going on and how to fix the issue?

If you click Start, Run, and type services.msc and look at the actual Windows services for those two items, are they actually set to start Automatically?  If not, set them to Automatic.  I believe Exchange has those turned off by default.

Yes, the actual services are set to Automatic
Can you check the event log on the system at the time of the last system start to get a clue why they might not be starting?

After looking back at what I did (or didn't do), for some strange reason after rebooting the server several times, the Vitual Servers are starting up including the POP3 which is what I was having particular issue with.  I'm not sure if running the Best Practices app for Exchange helped, but I will give Jaustin1 the points on this one.
I doubt the BP Analyzer would have helped, unless you followed one of its recommendations when you finished?

But if that wasn't it, I believe you can have your points refunded.  It won't hurt my feelings! :D
I did do some registry fixes with the BP based on its recommnedations, but I believe that was after the services started working..
Its ok, your help was appreciated and should get awarded thusly.
