I know that Awstats is prolly the best of the ones mentioned.

However google analytics is really good becuase it even breaks down the cities and ISPs of the users and AWstats doesn't :-( I wish it had more info. I prolly got spolied by google analytics.

AWStats,Analog, Webalizaer and the three that are widely used.

I don't use those much, as I've went to google analytics myself and like it a lot.

How are they compared to Google Analytics. We had our Google analytics account accidentally wiped out recently.

We run a life coaching and life coach training business, and one of the employees accidentally deleted the Google Analytics account for the last year.

The employee wants to reimburse us a dollar amount that would repay what was lost since we can't get it back. How much would you say something like that is worth?

stats are priceless. however google analytics is free.

depends on the length of time the data was collected and the amount of data that was collected.

if you got a large site the data could be worth tens of thousands, if not more.

you can plug right back into the site easily without needing anything installed on your server. You simply add the tracking code to the proper page, then follow the prompts. very easy.

you may want your staff to have read onyl access to reports next time so they won't delete them:

google Analytics provides the ability to add any number of users to your account, and to grant varying levels of access to your reports. You may grant access to the reports of particular profiles when adding a new user, or modify access for existing users.

To grant access when adding a new user:

    Click User Manager
    Click Add User
Enter the user's email address, last name, and first name. The email address must be a Google Account.
Select the Access type for this user: View reports only, or Account Administrator, which allows the user to edit account settings
Select the profiles to which this user should have access. Reports for profiles that are not selected will not be available to this user
Click Add to move these profiles into the Selected Website Profiles list
Click Finish to create the new user. They can now log in using their Google Account email address and password.

We get around 2000 people to our site a month, how much do you think the analytics is worth - we lost about one year of data.

it depends on how deep your need is.

I would say in this case it might border on small claims court amounts... around 5-6K

if you feel in doubt any further you can consult a intangible assets specialist or another specialist in that field.
