Is this SQL 2008 Enterprise edition, or is it just express edition?  Whether or not it matters depends on what your plans are, and whether or not you plan to access this installation over the network.

Have you tried using the IP address instead of the computer name?

Hi,

exactly what error you getting when you trying to connect.

if error is something like

Error: \\computer_name\instance_name
unable to connect server \\computer_name\instance_name
Server: Msg 67, Level 61, State 1 [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver] Client unable to establish connection.

please use .\sqlexpress as SQL server name rather than full name. It will automatically take the servername
