CEICW Network Connection box doesn't have an option for changing the gateway or alternate DNS

this is probably an easy one, but i have no idea what to do. I have two NICs on sbs 2003 server. I did not set up the server. In the local network connection the gateway info disappears along with the alternate DNS server address. I tried using the CEICW to fix this but there is no dialog box that actually allows you to make these changes. I then tried adding it through the network connections, but that only works temporarily. the data gets dropped again.
through the cmd i check the ipconfig and those two lines of data are just blank.

how do i correctly change that information and make it stay there?

i guess what I'm asking is, is there a way to clear the address fields of data and start clean? there must be a GUI or some basic code in cmd. the CEICW shows the properties in the Network Connections dialog box, but the properties are fixed -they aren't designed to be editable from there.
