I have a T500 lenovo laptop with the attached specs. My current max resolution is showing 1280x800 and I'm wondering if it's possible to configure it to improve the resolution. If this is the maximum by default, what would be the best choice for a graphics card to be able to attain 1680x1050?

I mostly use the computer for work not gaming but it would be great to be able to fit more spreadsheets on the screen.

thank you.

this laptop supports a higher resolution

see link for datasheet

Th ThinkPad T d T 500 NOTE BOOK
357.5x255 x 29.7x 33.5mm (6-cell battery)
14.1x10.0x1.2 - 1.3"
WSXGA+ (1680x1050, 129dpi, 200+ nit)
WXGA W/LE LE D Backlight (1280x800, 129dpi, 200+ nit)
The display is what limits the resolution, so changing the graphics card won't help with the resolution.

If you connect the PC to an external monitor with a higher resolution you will also be able to use a higher resolution.

so it depends on which card came in your laptop and then confirm your display has a higher resolution capability also
plug a separate monitor in and see if you can roll the display higher.....
laptop graphics cards are often not easy or able to upgrade
you can check lenovo's website and see if it is a viable upgrade for your model
You will need to replace the screen to use a higher resolution on the laptop, or use an external monitor.
