adding subreport to report, what really happens?

I know this is a newbie question, and I've been using Crystal Reports since version 9.

What happens when I add a subreport to a report? What I mean is that I am going to add a report everyone else uses as a subreport, then within my report I am going to change it a little bit for my specific needs.

I want to make sure that I'm only copying the report into my report and not going to mess up original report.

The book I have says it is a copy, but Crystal is very glitchful and want to make sure this is really going to be true every time.

Thank you.

editing of a subreport doesn't change the rpt that was used to import it.  You are safe  :o)

I agree.  I have done it often enough that I know if you edit the subreport from within the main report yu are working on a copy that is saved in the report.  Changing it will not affect the RPT file you imported.
