MS Project 2010 Building a Team

I am using MS Project Professional 2010.
Is there a way to setup a team without being connected to the project server? We do  not have the server version setup and I have several tasks that I need to add a set group of resources to. I wanted to see if there is a way to group these resources so I don't need to pick each one for each task, of which there are many.

Is there a way for me to identify the generic resource (Programmer)? Can I have individual resources assigned to it so I don't have problems with leveling?
Only with Projectserver you can define an Enterprise Custom field to "link" named resources (users) with generic resources. This can be used to replace an initial generic planning with individual resources. If you only use the client without Projectserver you could define a local custom text field, assign the same values to the generic and named resources to see their total resource load.

This helped me understand the process better.  Thanks for your help.
thausla,

your comment:
checkmark at "Generic". You can also set the availability to the number of people (FTE) you are having available as programmers.
In the schedule then assign the generic resource to a task and adjust the units as needed, e.g. enter "5" to indicate it takes 5 programm

I was able to get to the checkmark the Generic, but there was no place to adjust the units (ie to 5 or whatever).

Can you expand?
Hi,

if you double click a resource in the e.g. "Resource Sheet" view you can change the max. units to reflect the number of available people for this generic resource. This is on the "General" tab in the lower left corner.

Does this answer your question?
