Click in the first cell of the range to highlight it. Hold down the shift key and use the arrow keys to highlight the other cells in the range. If you are still highlighting the 3 cells, it sounds like some have already been merged.

When in Excel, I try to click on a cell. &nbsp;Instead of highlighting one cell, it highlights 3 cells. I am trying to merge 2 cells, but I am unable to select just those two cells.<br />

Excel is Highlighting too many cells
