Some more information :-

The site inherits permissions from its parent site, which in turn has inheritance turned OFF from the TLS. The only permission groups allowed are the ones created specifically for this site. The account being tested is both a Farm Administrator, and a member of the Owners group for this site.
The only strange thing I have noticed is that there is no Style Library at all ? I have added nt authority\authenticated users to the master sheet (v4) used for the site, and given them contribute permissions on this.

Anyone help please ?

I have had a similar problem in the past

The list must inherit permissions from the web (site)

Make sure you are not breaking inheritance at the list / library level ....

best of luck,.

Hi GeorgeGergues

Inheritance is broken at the site level, and new groups/permissions are assigned below this. This means that the default SP groups like style resource readers and viewers have no access permissions at the site and below levels. I DID read somewhere that since NT Authority\authenti9cated users are members of the style readers group, removing permissions to this group could have adverse effects on template inheritance, but if this IOS the case, how on earth do you block the authenticated users from having acces to ALL levels of ALL sites ???
The Style readers is a group needed to get the colors, ans styles on your front page , and /or any custom master page you have on the site.

that does not mean they will have access to content , due to the fact that have access to the styles.

I do recommend that you Re Inherit the security from the parent , fix the problem, then create groups at the web level ( in your case the Employee activity) not the site collection level , then manage the permissions at the web .

Hope that helps.

Best of luck

There is a lot involoved with the fabulous 40 and the changes between SharePoint 2007 and SharePoint 2010.  The fab 40 has been redesigned by Kahalil for SharePoint 2010.  I suggest going to http://www.sharepointjoel.com/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?List=0cd1a63d%2D183c%2D4fc2%2D8320%2Dba5369008acb&ID=374 to understand what is going on and what changes between the two enviornments cause these issues.

I have worked round this so it is no longer an issue. Whilst very grateful to Georges and Dipilegi for their suggestions, I do not consider these were responsible for fixing the issue which effectively remains unresolved. I am therefore unable to allocate the points on this occasion.
