"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I am pretty sure you will not be able to make a wireless connection to your laptop.

I think you are trying to make your laptop a wireless hotspot if I understand you.

I am kind of confused by your question..  Do you mean you want the "new" laptop to connect to the "old" laptop and then to the router?  I would think you would want to connect the "new" laptop to the router (which is preferred)..  Then, if you want to share out your files and printers, you can do that inside of Windows..

You should be able to configure the new laptop as you have your old laptop..  Provided you have the wireless key..

If memory serves, in Windows XP, you can create a disk (or jump drive) with the config information on it for the new laptop.

Kent
