Increase drive partition on server.

Hello and thank you for your attention to my question.

Server runs SBS 2008.
What i need to do is decrease one partition E: and increase another C:

What is the best/efficient/safest way to perform this?

hello,

it's too easy, you just need to convert this drive to dynamic.

how to do this:  right click on: Disk 0 (on your left) you can see the type is: Basic and convert this hard to dynamic,
after that you can decrease and increase etc....

Umm, I hate to comment on another's comments, and his idea might be ok for you depending on your situation, but I would not rush right into converting your disk to dynamic without thoroughly understanding the advantages and disadvantages of dynamic disks.

If it were me, I would rather use a good disk partitioning program like Acronis.
thank you for your comment, we are a team and maybe your comments give me something that was lost away. your idea is correct and he should be understanding the advantages and disadvantages of dynamic disks.

and using a software may not be available for him and not a quick solution. still converting disk more practical.

thanks for your clarification

Regards

What seems to be the best solution would be to move data off to anothe partition then delete the partition you can then extend the partition next to the unallocated space but only the partition next to the unallocated space

Noxcho makes a valid point. 80GB seems to me to be a lot of data for the system partition. What is the majority of the disc space being used by?

Also, if you are going to resize the partition, do you have backups of everything you cannot afford to lose?

Hello and thank you all for your input.

Thank you noxcho. Upon further review i noticed that exchange datastore was located on C:
I moved it to D: since E: is on the same Array as C:

This freed up close to 17 gb's on C: Drive.
