Conditional Date Restriction in SRSS

The report I am creating runs off transactions and on the records there are two date field columns. They want to have a checkbox they click before they run the report that will indicate which of the two date fields to use for the date restriction. Would it makes sense in this case to base this report off a SQL stored procedure and to pass the indicator value down to the stored procedure and then in the sp have it base it decision on this field as to which date to use for the restriction?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Depending on wether your users would allow it, would be easier to have 2 reports, one based on each date field. That way you can add titles etc to the report that can show the difference. Although your solutuon would work, and would require less maintenance (only one version of the report to update other changes in etc).

Trust me, that is what is what I would prefer, however I have a user who is used to an old Access program that was written 10 years ago and I have been instructed to make sure she loses no functionality. They are willing to pay for this to keep her happy so that is what I will do. So let me begin creating the sp and let the good times roll!
