how do I setup file sharing with a pc windows 7 pro and a MacBook pro which uses Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard?

Check the File Sharing Box in any menus
Click Options then check the third box 'Share files and folder using samba (Windows)
when setting the samba options you might need to specify a username/account
Close the dialog boxes

Or on the PC right click the folder you want to share, choose share with specific people, add "everyone" give read/write access. Then on the Mac in finder choose connect to server and type smb://ipaddressornameofpc
Change that to either the ip of the PC or it's computer name.
