Win Zip 15.0 with Win XP

I need some assistance configuring Win Zip when it opens and archive. Currently is opens showing the archived files as Thumbnails. I need the display to show the files in the Detail view. I've attached a couple of images showing the undesired and the desired view. Once the Win Zip is open, I can change view by the change does not stick and next time the dialogue box appears it is in the thumbnail view.

Would really appreciate some help with this.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

If not worked,
1. Uninstall winzip completely and install it again or go for latest version
2. download the latest winzip and install

I guess until you register the winzip you'll get its default view the undesired one...

In WinZip 15 -> Settings -> Options -> View tab, uncheck Smart View Mode.

My WinZip always comes up in Details. I think you do need to be registered as noted above.

Have you thought of replacing WinZip with 7-Zip, which is a FREE, open source program and more powerful than WinZip?
JohnBusiness Consultant (Owner)Commented:
Since WinZip is already installed, there is no need to replace it with a different product so far as I can see.

Unchecking "Smart View" solved the problem. I greatly appreciate the quick and effective solution provided. Thanks.

By the way, this is the latest version of Win Zip. This is a paid for and properly registered copy of Win Zip, but I grayed out the registration number and my name before posting here. Win Zip has several advantages over open-source compression programs; e.g., it consistently compresses *.jpg images by 20%+, better encryption management, etc., etc.

You are welcome and I was pleased to assist. I assumed you had it registered but I was not certain. Thanks.

afthab: You are correct I did not check the link you provided and i was scanning all the replies to my question. I the answer from thinkpads user: and immediately tried. You also provided the answer to my question and were the first to do so, however, I did not get to it until later. I apologize. I'm sure you're frustrated. I'm not familiar with Experts Exchange enough to know if I can retro-actively award point to you. Clearly I awarded the points based on the help I made use of to resolve the question.

If there is a way to provide point to you as well I'll gladly do so. Your answer is complete and would have been the solution if I had not scanned all message first
