Sage Act 2011 : sorting contacts by firstname

Hi,

In Sage Act 2011 Premium, is it possible to in ListView to sort Contacts by FirstName?

Currently, whilst it displays firstname/lastname but on applying Sort, it does so in Lastname sequence.

The only way I've managed so far is to apply Edit>Sort in Company/FirstName.

Also, in Activities/Opportunities etc, Contacts are displayed again in LastName sequence: is it possible to display firstname sequence?

Thanks
Jay

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi

What you need to do here is to change the Column on view to show the Firstname & Lastname fields rather than just the Contact field - you should then be able to sort by Firstname.

To do this on the List View right click on the top column headings and from the menu choose Customize Columns.

Thanks Gavinel.

I've obtained a couple of free downloads to help with this. My current favourite is :
http://www.actpresentation.com/quicksearch.shtml

This provides search features similar to what I've become used to in Outlook Contacts ie. type compa ny or contact name & Outlook provides a selection.

What I haven't overcome :  in Activities/Opportunities etc, Contacts are displayed again in LastName sequence: is it possible to display firstname sequence?

Any ideas?

Not possible in those other areas ... only the "Contact Name" field (indexed by "Last Name") is linked to those sub-tables

Hi Jay

As per GL Computing you are in lastname only territory once off the Contact List itself
