"Compact On Close" - Multi user

Straighforward question

If I have set my database to "Compact On CLose"

Does this work when there are multiple users on the system?

I.e. is it possible for one user to compact a database while another user is using it?
What happens in this case

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

only compacts then when the last user exits.

<<I.e. is it possible for one user to compact a database while another user is using it?>>

No.  A DB must be closed for the DB to be compacted.

Note also that IF you are using a split database (and you should be doing so, with multiple users) then Compact on Close ONLY affects the Frontend.
