why does my mac have a hostname of ...ipt.aol.com

Hi all,

I am a bit stumped here.  On one of my macs, when I do a hostname, it  has some kind of aol address - axxx.ipt.aol.com.  Any ideas where this is coming from?   I do not use aol as an isp.

Thanks

I had to re-install and since then the host name has been corrected.  Applying points as the feedback provided is still valid and useful.
