My laptop can't connect to the internet
The laptop stopped connecting to the internet, but AIM still works and MS software upgrades are delivered. I can ping google.com from the cmd line. IE response is "Internet Explorer cannot display the wedpage. Troubleshooting couldn't identify the problem. I've turned off the firewall. Any suggestions?

I need a little more info on what ie setting to reset, please.

I did a full reset and it didn't have any impact on the problem
DJP0226--In Win7 Control Panel|Troubleshooting|Netw ork and Internet|Connect to Internet or is that what you have already done?
If that does not help, do a System Restore to a time before the problem started.
Or you can re-establish your Internet account with your ISP. You may want to ask their help. You are paying for the service.

At this point, since you've reset IE settings, that will remove a potential proxy issue. (Or re-intro it if you need to use a proxy)
The next typical reason is DNS settings.
Can you enter an IP address into the browser and get to a page? Use the IP address that you resolved through ping and see if that opens google.com
If you can, then you will need to find out what is causing your browser not to use your systems dns settings.
