Check this page : http://www.trirand.com/jqgridwiki/doku.php?id=wiki:events

You should set the loadComplete :

loadComplete:function() {
    // update total
}

Open in new window

$("#gridlist").jqGrid({
			//... other parameters
			loadComplete:function() {
			// update total here
			},
			//... other parameters
		});

		$("#deletegridrow").click(function() {
			var gr = $("#invoice_grid").jqGrid('getGridParam','selrow');
			if( gr != null ) {
				$("#invoice_grid").jqGrid('delGridRow',gr,{reloadAfterSubmit:true});
			}else {
				alert("Please Select Row to delete!");
			}
		});
