"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

If you want a shell on your iPhone, you'll have to jailbreak it. However, there's still quite a bit you can do with the VPN connection.

1) Install an SSH client
2) Install some ping tools so you can ping and traceroute (such as "Network Ping for iPhone")
3) Connect to an Exchange server and get your corporate email on your iPhone
4) Install apps to do a network scan
there is an RDP client too.

Ya I've been using rdp a lot, and the ping tools a bit. What ash app do u use?
I think you mean SSH

"The Rove Mobile Admin Client" aka "Mobile Admin"; search for it in the app store.  Not too many features, but it's the only free SSH client I've seen for the itouch.
