mv command not working as I want.

Firstly I'm using MINGW32, which shouldn't make a difference (hasn't so far for everything else I've done...). Anyway, I'm wanting to move all files within a directory to another directory. I'm using this command:

mv "D:\Work\Miscellaneous\nightly\*" "D:\"

This seems to do absolutely nothing though. Any suggestions?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Keep in mind that backslash \ is both the escape character and directory separator, must be escaped by itself. Try
mv "D:\\Work\\Miscellaneous\\nightly\\*" "D:\\"
