The whole point of encryption is to make it unreadable.  To read it you must first decrypt it.
Why do you want to use a 'weak' encryption?  In other words why do you not want to use certain characters in the encrypted information?

If you just need "normal" characters to enable emailing them, you could just do a two pass "encryption"

1. Encrypt with whatever encryption menthod you want (probably as a binary file).
2. UUencode the file to generate nice emailable characters.

Sinple, and it gets rid of the @$%$^  :)
