Dell Vostro 1500 Laptop Won't Start

I have a Dell Vostro 1500 laptop that is appx 3 years old.  Last night I was using the computer and it simply froze.  The display was stuck on the page I was using and none of the keys or mouse would work.  I forced a shut down by holding the power button, then attempted to restart the computer.  After I press the power button it tries to start for 2 or 3 seconds and then shuts down automatically.  It has continued to do this.  Any ideas what may have went out?
Below is additional computer info:

Are there any error beeps?

Several things come to mind:

1. There may be short somewhere on the board.
2. The laptop is overheating (usually the processor). This usually won't happen especially if the laptop was never opened/serviced.
3. Try removing the battery and plug in the charger only. Power it up again.

There are no error beeps, removing the battery and using the charger only does nothing different,  and the laptop has never been opened/serviced.  It attempts to power on the same amount of time (about 2 seconds) consistently before shutting down.  The shut down is abrupt also (as if I held the power button to force a shut down).

I would check the RAM. Try reseating the modules. Replace it or try starting the computer using 1 memory module at a time in different slots.

It was the DIMM on the inside portion of the board (not the easily accessible one on the outside).  I took it out and the computer started up.  Thanks for the help!
