Office Communicator

Hey All,

Has anyone had any dealings with office Communicator? Would you recommend it at all? How do you go about setting it up.. do you need a server that runs it then all the clients connect to it with a log in? We are running Office 2010 here if that is any help also.

Any Videos or Docs would be great.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

We're using it in my company, and I would clearly recommend it.
From an end users point of view, I have the following pros:
- If linked with Outlook calendar, you can always see your contacts status (meeting, available) - this is very handy, so you don't disturb them, while they're busy.
- If linked, you can also see if the "Out of office" message is set.
- You can share your screen with a colleague, so you can get quick help online instead of meeting up.
- And all the regular advantages of using an IM client.

We've had it in about a year, and it is a commonly used tool.

Thats good to hear. So is there a client that I need to run or is this already installed within office?
I have no expirience with installing this myself, as it is deployed automaticly from my IT department. However I have found tutorial, which tells you how to install it:
