jQuery to Submit a form

Hello Everyone,

I'm trying to make a form that is within a modal (dialog) box, submit using the ajax function.

I can't get it to initiate the function when the submit button was submitted.

I'm not sure what I'm missing.

If you click on Add Nit from the menu, the modal box comes up fine.  But when I click submit it just reloads the page.

Thanks for any assistance,

Luke

Also, by default, a submit button causes a page to refresh unless you do the following:

$('#submit_nit').click(function(e) {
    .... Do stuff here
    e.preventDefault(); // Prevent page from reloading
});

// OR this

$('#submit_nit').click(function(e) {
    .... Do stuff here
    return false; // Prevent page from reloading
});

Just a quick note:  Even though dataString is not set, if I strip away all of the ajax code and leave the below, it doesn't show the Alert box.

Cheers again,

Luke

$('#submit_nit').click(function() {

	      Alert("not successful");
	});
