Basic excel question. How do I have cells auto populate based on another cells value. Example if the user enters Baseball then another field will enter a Y for team sport.

Thank you.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You can use an event which requires code, or you can use a formula.

So if column A has Baseball and you want Y in column B, then enter this formula and drag down:

This will autopopulate column B with a Y when you enter in Baseball in column A.  When something else is entered or nothing at all then column B remains blank.
