Entourage is not syncing with Exchange server

I have a couple of individuals on Mac's but one of them is having problems with Entourage synchronization. When she send an email from Outlook Web Express, it does not appear in her sent box in Entourage, and the same happens when she sends an email from Entourage it does not appear in the sent in Outlook Web Express.

I have deleted her sent box to make that there was no corrupt email. It did not help.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Do you have Entourage set up so that the account type is Exchange?  It should not be set at a Pop3 or IMAP account.

Also, what version of Entourage and What verison of Exchange?  For best results, you should be using Exchange Web Services for Entourage, and this requires Exchange 2007 SP2 and Entourage 2008 with EWS update or higher.

Problems using Powershell and Active Directory?

Managing Active Directory does not always have to be complicated.  If you are spending more time trying instead of doing, then it's time to look at something else. For nearly 20 years, AD admins around the world have used one tool for day-to-day AD management: Hyena. Discover why

Does Exchange 2007 have Service Pack 2?  And  is Entourage updated to the Exchange Web Services version of 2008?  If either of these is the older version, is it possible in your enviroinment to update them?  The reason I ask about these particular updates is Entourage works much better with Exchange when using EWS.

The update is not required.
the issue is with mail relay on Exchange 2007.

Use this guide to allow Entourage clients to relay.

There was a similar case in EE which was solved using the relay.

This will not put items in the sent folder, nor will it fix the sync issue.  SMTP authorization is not the problem as Entourage will not use SMTP if it correctly configured for EWS.

1.  mimi6464 can you confirm the Exchange Server is running 2007 SP2?
2.  Entourage should say it is Exchange Web Services version on the splash screen when it launches.  3.  Assuming you see that Entourage is the Web Sevrices version, then can you post any connection errors from the Entourage Log?  The log should be vieweable in Entourage, I believe it is on the help menu (one of the last two menus in Eontourage).

Ok after trying several time to authenticate and verify the information, I was able to configure and launch Entourage. It would not take the exchange servers name as the address, it needed the physical IP address, in addition, the domain, password are no longer under the Account settings and the LDAP address is left blank. Weird, but I believe I am fixed. My user will notify me if she is still having the same issue as before and if she is then I will move on to the server relay suggestion above. Thank you all :)

Great to hear it is working!

EWS is pretty nice and very reliable in my experience.  For remote users, setting up Entourage/Mac Outlook 2011 with EWS is a lot easier than Windows Outlook 2010 running as an Outlook Anywhere client.  I wish they would dump RPC/MAPI in Outlook and have all clients be EWS clients.  Apple Mail and iCal in Snow Leopard also support EWS, so you can let your users have whichever client software they prefer.
