Backup Exec 2010 - Restoring Exchange 2003 ,edb to Exchange 2007 recovery group

I have a bunch of .edb backups from an Exchange 2003 installation that were made without the Exchange agent installed (for some reason.)  Is it possible to offload the database from the tapes and somehow then load this into an Exchange 2007 recovery group?

I've done this when the agent has been used, and therefore it knows that the edb belongs to Exchange, etc, but will this work when this info is just saved as files?

It's not possible to do this, you will need to use a 3rd party tool, see here for one that I use that has never let me down: http://www.kerneldatarecovery.com/buy-edb-email-recovery.html

Actually, I had it wrong.  The Exchange 2003 backups we have from Backup Exec are done the correct way, and are snapshots of the store using the agent.

Using Backup Exec, can these be redirected to a local share so a tool as you directed me to early can be used to open up the contents?

Yes, simply restore the EDB and extract tge data to PST using kernel :)
