large system files taking up to much space

In the system volume information of my NON-OS drive I've got system files taking up 53 gig on a 300 gig partition. Shadow copies are completely disabled. What can be done, and is this normal?

Are you dual booting, mounting the drive with an application, or none of the above?

ThorinO: none of the above. It's an exchange server with the DB on it.
