Host name

Hi , I use a remote service to edit our web site - web html editor

i have tried to log in but when i type the url it does not find it it has happened befor and i remeber it was to do with the need to add thr record to the host file to point to the hosting ip but i cant remeber how to access the file to ammend it or check it

The alternative is to replace the name of the server in the url with the IP address that you already know.  
When you use the hostname the system just looks that up in the hosts file anyway and replaces the name with the IP address, so there is nothing to stop you using that directly.

k_romych has already given you the folder name containing the hosts file for Windows and wolfje_xp has told you where to find the hosts file on Linux/UNIX (and I assume that will work for MacOS as it is UNIX based).
