How to add a new mail box

Dear all,

can you please guide me how to add a new mail box on exchange 2007 server?

I have a doubt ie, before creating a mail box do we have to create a new user account in active director or no need?

if i just create a mail box in exchange will active directory automatically create an user account?

If you create the mailbox in exchange it will automatically create the account in AD.

Steps to do this.

In EMC right click mailbox, select new mailbox, select user mailbox.
Keep the selection of new user
Enter information for name, email, password, organizational unit, etc and hit next.
Select your mailbox database and hit next.
The summary screen will appear, select new.

YOu have just created a new acocunt.

If you had already created the user account in ADUC then on the second step you can select the option for an existing user. This will go through the process of creating a mailbox for that user on the exchange system
