setting up ntop or like sniffing tool in switched network

I am trying to install ntop or a similar sniffing tool in a switched network. We have a comcast cable modem that feeds into a cisco 2610 router which then plugs into a non-managed switch which is daisy chained to other switches. The switches are not capable of doing port mirroring and I understand the best method is to plug a hub into the picture to capture data.

Since the switches do not support port mirroring is data capture still possible and if so where in the network would I  need to plug in a hub.

yes it's possible and yes you'd need a hub if mirroring not available

where is the natting taking place...modem or 2610?

the cable which presently connects the modem to 2610, add a hub here....(NOTE: hub will connect to sniffer device, 2610 and modem)

my previous comment is dependent on which device is natting, i assume you would want to sniff the traffic before nat happens, otherwise all sniffing done will basically show the natted address and you won't know which inside device is actually doing the communicating.

I have set up the Cisco 2610 to provide the natting.

setup hub between 2610 and the device it's connected to on inside
