# convert a birthday field

Hi,
I have a field that needs to be converted from a YYYYMMDD to 03/02/2010 as a birthday. Can this be done with a crystal formula?

Thanks,
k:)

Sure.

If you want it to be a date that can be formatted and manipulated

Date(Val(Left({YourField},4)), Val(Mid({YourField},5,2)), Val(Right({YourField},2)))

If you just need it as a striing
Assuming you have MM/DD/YYYY
Mid({YourField},5,2) & "/" &  Right({YourField},2) & "/" & Left({YourField},4)

If you want
DD/MM/YYYY
Right({YourField},2) & "/" & Mid({YourField},5,2) & "/" &Left({YourField},4)

I am using crystal X (sucks) and this field is a number I converted the the field to a totext({bday}) then
created another formula using your mid statement above.  Thanks mlmcc for the help.  I am going to run it now to see how it works.
