Exchange 2010 Instal - Failes on Mailbox Role

I am trying to install Exchange 2010 on a new install of Server 2008 Ent R2. It fails on installing the Mailbox Role. I am clueless when it comes to Exchange 2010 so this is a rather steep learning curve.

I have attached the exchange setup log.

Any help with this error would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

It looks like setup is looking for "sendserver.waa.lan" DC instead of your 2003 DC.
Check if you did everything correctly according to this article:

Start Menu -> Run --> dsa.msc
Right click the top domain name, select Operations Masters

Check if you have proper DC name there.

Operations Master is set to an older Server 2003 box. ADSVR.WAA.LAN

Problems using Powershell and Active Directory?

Managing Active Directory does not always have to be complicated.  If you are spending more time trying instead of doing, then it's time to look at something else. For nearly 20 years, AD admins around the world have used one tool for day-to-day AD management: Hyena. Discover why

Did you do SchemaPrepare and the username you are installing with is part of Schema Admins?

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb691354.aspx did you do the prerequisites?

The username I am using is part of Schema Admins. I have also ran the prerequisites from that link.

I have scrapped the server and rebuilt it. I have followed all the instructions, as far as I am aware all the pre requisites are completed. I used a typical install. There must be something I am missing though. All installs fine apart from the Mailbox Role. I can use the EMC for almost all tasks, the one problem is in Mailbox I am unable to mount a database.

I have attached an updated log file.

Just hoping there is something very simple I am missing.

thanks

Again, there is something wrong with domain controller. Setup starts with proper one (ADSVR) but later it looks for EXCHSVR.waa.lan as DC.

No idea what I have done but it now works. I used adsi edit to remove the corrupt database, then installed exchange service pack 1 after failure then rebooted. Since then it has been working fine, i have been able to add and remove databases, dismount and mount. Going to have to test tomorrow to be sure but happy none the less.
