Starting in I.T Project Management.

Hi All,

My background is highly technical and during the last 5 years has been in a management capacity. I have managed various projects ranging from the likes of a company de-merger which was around 300k budget to relatively straight forward office moves and rationalisation.

Due to changes in my workplace i am going to be made redundant in the next 6-9 months but fortunately the business is willing to provide some training and i am looking at moving into project management.

I have been investigating the area but there is not much information on how to start in this field that provides anything concrete.

I am looking at obtaining price 2 practitioner and taking it from there.

Do any current project managers have any hints, tips or advice for a budding project manager?

Cheers

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.
