I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Exactly as said above. If the document is secured by protection then there may not be much you can do about editing the form field properties for font attributes.

To check if the document is secured, go to File > Properties > Security. If the Document Security frame notes No Security, then you should be fine to edit the form field properties. If it indicates Password Security, then you'll be limited to the Document Restrictions Summary listed below the Document Security area (where you will see what you are Allowed to do and what you are not to this document) unless you know the password to free the document's security restriction.

it is protected. so i guess nothing i can do.

Unfortunately, if the Changing the Document dropdown box indicates Not Allowed, then you will need the password to allow such.
