Use dimensions.

17.5 units = £ 427.25

Divide by left hand side:

1 = £ 427.25 / 17.5 units
1 = £ 24.414 / 1 unit

427.25          X
----------  =  ------
17.5 units     1 unit

Cross multiply:      17.5*X  =  427.25*1   ==>  X  =  427.25 / 17.5

Please make sure you use enough decimals in your calculations, 3 decimals may not be sufficient, I would recommend above 5 decimals for your calculations which may be why you asked this question in the first place.

17.5 X 24.414 = 427.245 (Version 1)

17.5 X 24.41429 = 427.250075 (Version 2)

17.5 X 24.4142857 = 427.2499998 (Version 3)

Summing or adding version 1 will amount in quite a few pence being out over a couple of transactions.
