Establishing a Domain Controler in VMware Lab Manager

We found that cloning a DC does not work well and that was confirmed by VMware.   What I have done is deployed a 2008 R2 template and made it a domain controller.  My plan is shut it down, make it a template once again and move it into my Lab Manager configuration.  Once I have moved it into the test environment, is there any clean-up that must be done to the production environment?

I am assuming that if its the only DC as far as its eye can see,  it will act as the only DC is the environment.

Will there be any issues with changing the IP address?

What I can recomend is to use VMware Converter or Vsphere Converter.

There is a free version and it make the full process to virtualize a physical PC or Server. With Windows 2003 you can install local and run with the system runing, but win Windows 2008 you have yo turn off your server and then generate the Virtual Machine.

Maybe you can reduce the windows partition, create another primary partition and install another windows to make the virtualization. Then install VMware converter and conver your physical server to virtual.
